There are eight parts of speech in the English language:

1. Noun

2 . Pronoun 

3 . Adjective

4 . Verb

5 .  Adverb

6 .  Preposition

7 .  Conjunction

 8 . Interjection

The part of speech indicates how the word functions in meaning as well as grammatically within the sentence. 

1. NOUN

• A noun is the name of a person, place, thing, or idea.

For example : 

Adyan ,  Ranchi , Book , happiness

2. PRONOUN

• A pronoun is a word that is used in place of a noun.

For Example :

She... we... they... it

3. ADJECTIVE

• An adjective is a word that modifies or describes a noun or pronoun.

For Example :

pretty... old... blue... smart

4. VERB

• A verb is a word that expresses action or being.

For Example :

jump... is... write... become

5. ADVERB

• An adverb is a word that modifies or describes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.

For Example :

gently... extremely... carefully... well

6. PREPOSITION

• A preposition is a word that is placed before a noun or pronoun to form a phrase modifying another word in the sentence.

For Example :

by... with.... about... until

(by the tree, with our friends, about the book, until tomorrow)

7. CONJUNCTION

• A conjunction is a word that joins words, phrases, or clauses.

For Example :

and... but... or... while... because

8. INTERJECTION

• An interjection is a word that is used to express emotion.

For Example :

Oh!... Wow!... Oops!
